last week’s kirkwood ballers set got off to a rousing good start. thanks to all who came and participated.

in this post you’ll find pictures and sound files from the event…choice artifacts of a sonic extravaganza indeed.

unfortunately, not all of the recordings came out, so we missed a couple of the artists…but we’ll be sure to remedy that in future posts.

fibrona started off with a droney concoction of synths and horns, a nice dreamy beginning to the eyedrum/kbc legacy. viola 2/3 cocaine adventure surprised us all with harsh noise blasts and rambunctious vocals…the new wave of atlanta noise. kevin mcgauhey played guitar and sang, deconstructing a classic rock aesthetic. grl prty further tore apart rock and roll conventions with an exciting and chaotic set of minimal percussion, drones and vocals. role was an adventurous guitar/drum duo (which unfortunately did not get recorded well enough to post..our condolences, as it was great). guhp was a drum machine, guitar, vocal one man nod to new wave sensibilities. monomania brought the night back down with bubbly synthy goodness. hurricanes of love rocked it messed-up folk stye with guitar, percussion, and tape loops. pony bones spouted out an unholy junk country set worthy of the deepest swamp. lynlee healy and drummer was another guitar drum duo, both challenging and lovely (and the other set not recorded…argh). robby kee and rebecca blankenship spaced us out with a sampler/cello set that began to wind down the evening very nicely. robby and drummer friend ended the night with a percussion laden tribal set mashed up with samples and drones.

this night reminded us of why kirkwood ballers is important and we are determined to continue the legacy with the support of the artists and musicians in this fair city who perpetually push the limits of convention, genre, and style.

come out next time and join in!
